The Dangers of 'Lordship Salvation' and Ecumenicalism

Lordship Salvation Heresy — Ecumenical Bridge to Catholicism
By David J. Stewart

Many Christians are well aware of the heresy of Lordship Salvation, but did you know that Catholics created it?

Satan knows that if he can get Protestant churches to adopt a faith AND WORKS false view of salvation, then ecumenicals will succeed in uniting Catholicism with Evangelical Christianity.

An ecumenical is an unbeliever who falsely claims to be a Christian, who works to unite different religions together under one umbrella. Their purpose is to prepare the world to receive the coming Antichrist and the religious False Prophet.

Where did the heresy of Lordship Salvation come from? Look no further than the corrupt New International Version (NIV) of the Bible. One perverted Scripture stands alone, more than any other verse in the NIV, Romans 10:9 . . .

The NIV says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

The King James Bible says, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

JESUS IS LORD? That's not what the King James Bible says at all.

The originators (Westcott and Hort) of the corrupt Greek manuscripts from which the NIV, the Jehovah's Witness New World Translation, and all other modern perversions of the Scriptures come, were pro-Catholics. It is more than coincidental that all modern versions of the Bible are based upon the corrupt Greek work of two Catholic infiltrators. Jude 1:4, “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Westcott and Hort were unsaved heretics.

I could give you many changes which Westcott and Hort made to the Bible to cater to Catholics. One for example is found in James 5:16 where the King James Bible instructs us to confess our “faults” one to another. Westcott and Hort changed the word faults to “sins,” thus encouraging Catholics to continue going into the unbiblical confessional booth.

Every heretic that teaches Lordship Salvation quotes Romans 10:9 from the NIV, including Pat Robertson on his CBN.com website. Tragically, the once doctrinally sound Moody Bible Institute has now fallen by the wayside, also teaching Lordship Salvation (which has become a spiritual epidemic in America). It's like terminal cancer spreading throughout the body. Romans 10:9 in the NIV requires a lost sinner to make Jesus the Lord of their life to be saved. That is TOTALLY contrary to everything the King James Bible teaches. It is a false gospel message. It is sending people to Hell.

As further evidence that the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible is a Catholic infiltration of churches today, consider that the owner of the exclusive printing rights to the NIV, Rupert Murdoch, was recently made a Knight by the Pope. Starting to get the picture? The NIV was published with a much darker purpose than just to make money, it was intended to infiltrate churches around the world with the heresy of Lordship Salvation, which essentially teaches that faith AND WORKS are required for salvation.

Ray Comfort is infamous for teaching the heresy of Lordship Salvation. Mr. Comfort says FAITH ALONE in Christ is insufficient to save anyone...

If belief is all that is necessary for salvation, then the logical conclusion is that one need never repent. However, the Bible tells us that a false convert "believes" and yet is not saved (Luke 8:13); he remains a "worker of iniquity."

Ray Comfort is wrong concerning the Biblical meaning of repentance. There is a fine line between the turning from sin that genuine repentance brings; verses the turning from sin that false prophets like Ray Comfort require for people to get saved. Lordship Salvationists put the cart before the horse. A changed life is the FRUIT (result) of genuine repentance; and not a part of saving-faith. Our part in salvation is simply to BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST to forgive our sins (Acts 16:31); God does the rest. Acts 26:18, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”

In sharp contrast to Ray Comfort, Dr. Harry Ironside (former pastor of Moody Memorial Church, 1930-1948) correctly understood repentance to mean…

"Repentance is the recognition of my sinnership — the owning before God that I am as vile as He has declared me to be in His holy Word."
SOURCE: Except Ye Repent, by Dr. Harry Ironside, chapter 3
Lordship Salvation is the teaching that a lost sinner must not only acknowledge their guilt of sin to be saved, but they must also be willing to stop living a sinful lifestyle and consecrate their life to Christ in holy living. However, surrendering one's life to Christ as part of saving-faith is an act of self-righteousness! A person doesn't give up their sinful lifestyle to get saved; they give up their sinful lifestyle because they are saved. There's a big difference!

But of course, many believers never grow in the Lord to the point where they consecrate their life to God. Salvation and discipleship are two entirely different matters. Judas was a disciple (a follower) of Jesus, but he had never been born-again (saved). Judas went to Hell. You don't get to Heaven by being a follower of Jesus Christ; you get to Heaven because you come to God as a guilty sinner and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive your sins. Salvation is receiving; not giving. Eternal life is a free gift (Romans 5:15; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).

So we see from Romans 10:9 in the corrupt NIV where Lordship Salvationists get the foolish idea that God requires sinners to declare “JESUS IS LORD” to be saved. To do so in their minds means to stop living in sin, clean up one's life and commit to obeying God the rest of one's life. That's what Romans 10:9 in the NIV teaches!!! This false doctrine is rooted in self-righteousness, as is Catholicism; whereas Christianity is rooted in Christ's righteousness. Amen! The Catholic religion teaches that a person must have faith AND WORKS to get to Heaven. This is exactly what Lordship Salvation teaches as well, i.e., that faith alone in Christ is not enough. It is Satan's lie.

Churches all across the world are teaching that faith AND WORKS are required for salvation. That is what Lordship Salvation requires... WORKS!!!

An Unholy AllianceLordship Salvation is the consequential result of ecumenicals rubbing shoulders in an unholy alliance with Roman Catholics. As mentioned earlier, ecumenicals are unbelievers who falsely profess to be Christians, and work to unite the Catholic religion with genuine Biblical Christianity, which is impossible. It is called Ecumenism. Their followers are known as the Ecumenical Movement. Ecumenicalism is easily summed up as “sinful compromise.” In 2nd Corinthians 6:17 God commands believers . . . “Wherefore come out from among them, and BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord.”

The NIV was birthed out of ecumenical compromise. The publishers of the NIV wanted to make money, so they watered-down the holy Scriptures until all the participating religious denominations were satisfied. The end result is a worthless manuscript that removes the name above every other name, Jesus, in 38-places. Why would anyone use the NIV?

But even more sinister is that the NIV is a Trojan Horse, deceitfully sneaking the damnable heresy of Works Salvation into churches who sincerely think they're getting a better Bible. While Christians are sleeping in the Church, the enemies of the cross of Christ have invaded the world's churches with Lordship Salvation, which is NO salvation at all. It is a road to Hell. It robs Christ of His work of redemption as the Savior of the world. If a sinner's salvation is dependent upon his willingness to stop living in sin, then where does Christ's righteousness come into play?

The manmade traditions of Catholicism are diametrically opposed to the Bible. There is no agreement. As 2nd Corinthians 6:14 asks, “What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?” Only evil people try to unite Catholicism with Biblical Christianity. One of the biggest sins of our time is that most Christians fail to expose the evil Catholic religion, which is leading over one billion people into the Lake of Fire. So hear me out... the heresy of Lordship Salvation is akin to the faith and works philosophy of the damnable Catholic religion. As Lordship Salvation becomes more and more popular, so do the same apostate churches embrace the Catholic religion.

One thing that has always baffled me is why MOST pastors today use the NIV when they are fully aware that homosexuals were on the translating committee, including the Chairman of the Old Testament committee. The only answer is that those pastors DON'T truly love the Lord Jesus Christ.

Lordship Salvation is an ecumenicalist's dream come true, taught in the NIV. Churches all across the world are teaching that faith AND WORKS are required for salvation. That is what Lordship Salvation requires... WORKS!!!

May we be diligent in these woeful times of apostasy to contend for the Biblical faith. Salvation is simple — we are SINNERS and Jesus is the precious SAVIOR.

What you have presented here does not demonstrate diligence. The evangelical groups you have mentioned are in no way going Roman Catholic with their theology. Wescott and Hort were far worse than having Catholic connections. The KJV also has translation issues of it's own connected to a corrupt king and a corrupt state church. In spite of these horrendous connections, God was working for His purposes. The same applies to many things today with translation.

Your whole spin on labeling Lordship teaching as Catholic seems driven by Calvinism or what some would say is hyper-calvinism. Calvin had some bad issues mixed in with his excellence. No one in this whole work of God is without spot or wrinkle, but in no way needs to be labeled apostate. Your diligence in discernment regarding the truth needs to grow more. Save your apostate stuff for Benny HInn, etc.

Beyond the Ecumenical: Pan-Deism?

~~ by Father Charles A. Bolton*

A new phenomenon in religion is becoming more prominent as each year passes. It is a syncretist movement aiming at the union of all those who believe in God. This phenomenon goes far beyond the so-called ecumenical movement, which strives to unify all those who call themselves Christian. Before the Roman church took the ecumenical movement seriously, she generally alluded to it disparagingly as pan-Protestantism. The new movement is blessed by some of the hierarchs of the Roman church as the pro Deo (for God) movement.
To promote to the full the objective of this new trend, the Vatican has this year set up an organization as yet in embryo, a Secretariat for Non-Christian Religions. This new establishment, which will operate in Rome under the direction of Paolo Cardinal Marella as another arm of the Curia, parallels the Secretariat for Christian Unity.
It is interesting to note in this connection the changing vocabulary of the Vatican. Some recent popes have made much use of the terms Il Padre Commune ("The Common Father") and La Casa del Padre Commune ("The Father's House"--the Vatican) in their appeals to bring Christians back home. In establishing this new activity, the Pope now describes Rome as the Patria Commune, the "Common Fatherland" for all believers. However difficult it may be for Muslims, Buddhists, and Jews to regard Romes as their "common fatherland," the idea is that the new secretariat will make them feel that they now "belong." It seemed as though Paul VI was reaching beyond the history of the papacy and the Roman church to the universality of the old Roman Empire embracing many nations when he said:
"By the institution of this organism, no pilgrim will henceforth be a stranger in Rome, where the Church faithful to her history and her catholic faith shall always be the 'common fatherland."
The activities of the pro Deo group, which no doubt paved the way for the new secretariat, seem to have been chiefly confined to organizing international banquets, called agapes or love-feasts, thereby changing the character of the meetings of the early Christians, which were certainly closed to non-Christians.
Fraternizing With The East
To those familiar with the history of the Roman Catholic missions in recent centuries, the idea of fraternizing with oriental religions is not completely new. Throughout the seventeenth century and well into the eighteenth a bitter controversy raged between certain Jesuit missionaries and their opponents about what is sometimes called "Chinese rites." In fact, the desire to transform Catholicism into an oriental cult, though within certain limits, began with the Jesuit missionary De Nobili early in the seventeenth century. He assumed the saffron robe of the monk, observed Brahmanic rites and fasts, and tried to be as much like a Brahman as possible. In China the Jesuit missionaries later attempted to use similar methods in order to make themselves as completely oriental as possible.
Despite fierce opposition, the methods of De Nobili were approved for a time. But all these attempts to "naturalize" Roman missions in the East were finally suppressed by the bull of Pope Benedict XIV, Omium Sollicitudinem, in 1744. After this decree, the Roman missions in the East were destined to become like so many Latin colonies planted on foreign soil. This has often been deplored in modern times, and no doubt the recent Vatican approach may be seen as a return to the "assimilation" attempts of previous centuries.

Thanks for the comment which is probably a quote from somewhere? Anyway, folks really out the read 'Foxe's Book of Martyrs' to get a glimpse into the history of the Roman Catholic church which slaughter countless true Christians.

This can be read online here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/martyrs/

The Jesus is Savior website I have seen before many times but either the aluminium or old age causes me to forget what I made of it.

I know your quoting this is to open up thought and I see where you agree with this thesis. I agree in some parts, disagree in others. God has spoken to me via NIV but only on brief occasion 20 years ago my copy being from the pocket Gideons presented to me as a child and easy therefore to take to the rest room when I was in employment and was in need of answers. Actually I don't think I ever got any but found spiritual things to agree with.

My natural preferance has been for other translations especially the Good News but then my faith truly is not in written word but in the living God.

Where I believe I am now enlightened from the article is the difference between confessing "Jesus is Lord" as Kenneth Copeland does and confessing the Lord Jesus. I therefore see the immediate reference to the likes of Benny Hinn to which Tim A refers.

I can see confessing "Jesus is Lord" and "the Lord Jesus" is indeed very different.

Confessing the Lord Jesus is not a statement but a way of life. While I wholly advocate "come out from her" regarding the Catholic Church there will, as I am sure you will agree, be those within who are not yet on solid food who are sincere but subject to the delusion. I trust you will agree that those starting out will be received fairly and we know those who deserve such will receive His wrath.

What I really want to do is acknowledge you are posting someone elses view which you find agreement with or interest in but defend you in that others have seen such as your view when it is indeed lifted from elsewhere for consideration and comment.

Thanks therefore Cathy and some aspects I agree with others I don't. Had you not posted it I may never have had the opportunity to give the matter thought. Please keep searching out these interesting items on the web and post them in a forum, namely your blogs, where we can share in your hard work and hopefully continually do so.

When I first got saved in 1976, I read only the King James Bible. Then over the years, I read most all the newer versions as no one warned me differently. Then once I woke up to the deception surrounding me, I realized that ALL the modern versions were corrupt by design! I threw them all away and returned to the King James version. It is the closest to the original for the English speaking person.

You are right, we each need to trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us each day.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones."
Proverbs 3:5-8

Lordship salvation is a converter doctrine. It essentially condemns everyone saved and unsaved - then attempts to bring them under the delusion of works oriented gospel. This is great doctrine to propagate for anyone in the religion business.

I began to realize, all these heresies circling around have an incredibly utile function. Man is a master at unconsciously spinning religious deceit to benefit himself. This heresy is a good example.

Why let the average believer sit easy with his salvation - it would be much better reconvert them to a works based gospel;

One of the things people often throw at me when I say I am saved because I believe in Jesus Christ is they say even the demons believe as if believing in Jesus isn't good enough. Well the passage from James 2 shows that believing there is one god is not good enough but it doesn't say that believing in Jesus isn't good enough. For example, Muslims believe there is one God but that isn't enough but believing in Jesus is enough.

James 2:19

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

I also sometimes will tell people who say believing in Jesus isn't enough that I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that because of this God is in me and I am in Him and ask them, "does that sound familiar" and leave it at that.

Well if they read their Bible it should be familiar as shown below.

1 John 4:15

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

I must point out that believing that Jesus is the Son of God does imply that we also believe that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day so it is about who He is and what He did to save us, sinners who cannot save ourselves, so Romans 10 does go hand in hand with the above verses I quoted.

It is just tiresome sometimes to explain to people who think they are trying to win my soul for Jesus when they don't except that I am believer when I say I am a believer.

I'm completely jaded on this issue. These teachers seem like they are truly saved when they present the true gospel with their testimonies, so why are they preaching such heretical doctrines? But at the same time there are so many Bible verses that seem to support Lordship Salvation, but there are also many others that SEEMINGLY contradict them. I don't know it's so confusing. Please pray for me.
