Tender Mercies

Today while reading the Bible my heart was pierced as I read about the tender mercies of God. It reminds me of this sweet "puppy love" poster I recently found at a second hand shop.

As we go into the new year, let's remember that nothing is new to God and when our faith is in His Son we can rest in His promises of tender mercies.

Psalm 25:6
Remember, O LORD, thy tendermercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Psalm 25:5-7 (in Context) Psalm 25 (Whole Chapter) Psalm 40:11
Withhold not thou thy tendermercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
Psalm 40:10-12 (in Context) Psalm 40 (Whole Chapter) Psalm 51:1
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tendermercies blot out my transgressions.
Psalm 51:1-3 (in Context) Psalm 51 (Whole Chapter) Psalm 69:16
Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tendermercies.

The Peace of God

The news can be overwhelming... and depressing.

Everyday we make choices. We can choose to see the glass as half empty or half full. We can be bitter or better. We can hold on to resentment or we can forgive. We can walk in fear or walk in faith.

The other evening I was overcome with emotion from all the out-of-control events that seem to be happening everywhere.

Then I noticed a plaque on my wall which quotes two Bible verses: "Be still and know that I am God" and "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."

That reminded me that it's not my job to solve the world's problems, but it's God's job and He did it long ago at Calvary.

This truth gave me the peace of God I needed right then. Thank You, Lord!

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.&q…

Another Tragic Death

"The people that I trusted with the safety of my son killed him, and that hurts beyond words because we are a family of soldiers," Jason's father said.

A Soldier's Suicide: Did He Have to Die?

SANFORD, N.C. (AP) - AP Video Pfc. Jason Scheuerman nailed a suicide note to his barracks closet in Iraq, stepped inside and shot himself.

"Maybe finaly I can get some peace," said the 20-year-old, misspelling "finally" but writing in a neat hand.

His parents didn't find out about the note for well over a year, and only then when it showed up in a government envelope in his father's rural North Carolina mailbox.

The one-page missive was among hundreds of pages of documents the soldier's family obtained and shared with The Assoc…

Jesus is the reason for the season

Luke 2:6,7
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

KJV - LUKE 2:11-14

2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

2:12 And this [shall be] a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Santa = Satan?

Santa Claus: The Great Imposter

The shocking truth is Santa Claus originated from a character identified as the devil or Satan.

Wise men still seek Him

Matthew 21 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Taste and see that the LORD is good!

There was once a candy maker who wanted to remind folks of the real meaning of Christmas, so he invented the candy cane.

The hard candy symbolizes Jesus Christ being the Rock of Ages.

The “J” shape is for Jesus.

Turned upside down, it is a shepherd’s staff as Jesus is the Good Shepherd who watches over his children like little lambs.

The white color represents the purity of Christ and his virgin birth.

The large red stripe symbolizes the blood Christ shed for the sin of the world.

The three thin red stripes signify the many stripes Jesus received on our behalf when the Roman soldiers whipped Him. Also it reminds us of the three nails used to crucify him on the cross and also of the trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The flavor is peppermint and is similar to hyssop which is an herb used in Old Testament times for purification and sacrifice.

So when looking at a candy cane, remember that the Lord Jesus Christ is the perfect Lamb of God who came as a sacrifice for …

Happy Birthday Jesus
