I am excited about visiting FIRE missionaries and several Dutch friends for a week or so beginning tomorrow. And while in Holland, we will also be seeing Jason Upton who is in Europe for the first time. His ministry is a total blessing and I look forward to when the LORD opens the door for him to come to Berlin! Check out his website to see some great video clips:

Matthew 11:28-29
(Jesus said) Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
Mark 6:30-32
The apostles gathered together with Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught. And He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while." (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.) They went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves.
Hebrews 4:1-11
Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHAL…
This question is VERY important because no one is good enough to go to heaven nor can we save ourselves from an eternal hell. Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:1-10, "And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Ch…
Newly married Tabea and Can are busy renovation their Berlin-Spandau apartment and in the misdt of it all, we had a sweet time of fellowship over breakfast yesterday. There is still much work to be done but I could feel warm love as they welcomed me with open arms. Their "still under construction" home reminded me of our how our lives are: not finished on one hand but totally complete in Jesus. We want all our problems to go away NOW, but the Lord has other plans as He uses EVERYTHING to draw us closer to Him and conform us into the image of His Son. I am learning to "enjoy the journey" no matter how life looks or feels in the natural because Jesus is in the midst of it all! So instead of complaining about things, I try to be positive and thankful. If today you feel like you are overcome by life, start counting your blessings with a thankful heart and watch how your world will change - no longer as overcomed but as an overcomer in Christ! …
Everything IF the name is JESUS! Paul wrote to the believers in Philippi, "Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal's death on a cross. Because of this, God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippeans 2:5-11 nlt or kjv)

"Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?"Gal. 4:16
What does the new German pope believe? What does the Roman Catholic religion teach? Where in the Bible does it speak of purgatory, praying to Mary, doing good works will get us into heaven, or any of the many other traditions practiced and promoted by this religion? Anyone who has read the Bible knows it doesn't say any of this. Last night we heard the amazing story from our Polish friend who was raised in Roman Catholicism but left it after she became born-again. After asking Jesus to forgive her of her sins and turning her life over to Him, joy filled her heart and she no longer feared death! The Bible says in Titus 3:5 that "it is not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost". You see, no one is good enough to get into heaven on their own. Only through a perso…
House church in Berlin-Spandau
Is it a building? Many think so. The translation of "church" in Greek is "ecclesia" and in Hebrew is "kahal" - both words mean the same thing: "an assembly". Jesus first used the word "church" in Matthew 16 when he asked his disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ (Messiah, anointed One), the Son of the living God." Then Jesus said, "Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are you, Simon Bar-Jonah. For flesh and blood [mankind] have not revealed this to you, but My Father Who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros--a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra--a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (hell, the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or destroy it]. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declar…
Berlin Sun Daylily
It was a beautiful spring day as we walked to the hospital from the bus stop. We found our friend outside in the back enjoying the wonderful sunshine, so we joined her. After walking around some, we sat on a nearby bench to visit. I had brought my guitar so we could sing together. This was fun and a blessing to us as well as a few others who sat near us. Music is healing to the soul and this seemed to be true for our friend who has been in the mental hosptial several months now for attempted suicide. May the Lord heal her spirit, soul, and body in Jesus name! Here are the words to one of the songs we sang:
"I will change your name.
You shall no longer be called
Wounded, outcast, Lonely or afraid.
I will change your name.
Your new name shall be
Confidence, joyfulness,
Overcoming one,
Faithfulness, friend of God,
One who seeks my face!"
(by D.J. Butler - Mercy/Vineyard 1987)

Yes, children are a blessing from the Lord. I am very thankful for my two wonderful children and my sweet granddaughter, Hannah. Jesus spoke an important word about children in Matthew 18 when the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" Jesus called a child to Himself and set him before them saying, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." THANK YOU, HEAVENLY FATHER, FOR OUR CHILDREN. MAY WE HUMBLY COME LIKE A CHILD TO YOU, BELIEVING YOUR WORD AND TRUSTING YOU IN ALL THINGS.

Terry Schiavo 1963-2005
Proverbs 8:38b "All who hate me love death"
The shocking murder/starvation of Terri Schiavo this past month is an outrage! A pro-death American judge made this decision, siding with Terry's adulterous husband and going against the desires of her mother and father. This "death mentality" or "culture of death" is on the rise in America as well as in Europe today. But did you know that before Hitler and the Nazis came into power, selective death of “undesirables” had already begun in Germany? In the early 1920s the renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Alfred Hoche, and the respected judge, Karl Binding, wrote, "The Release of the Destruction Of Life Devoid of Value". This book talked much about "death with dignity" and stated that those who were dying or were physically or mentally handicapped should be given the “mercy” of a painless death. They also pointed out the economic benefits of such a program. It…
The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God
When God shows you something to do, don't say, "I'll do it" - just do it! Don't argue with common sense or ask someone's opinion. Simply obey the Lord. The Bible is one of the best ways the Lord speaks to us. Yesterday, while teaching English to several children and their mothers, we taught a little song with these words: "Read your Bible and pray everyday to grow, grow, grow!" As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are now in God's army and are to be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Paul wrote in Ephesians 6, "Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. Use every piece of God&…
Roses decorate a gate with the slogan 'Arbeit macht frei' (Working liberates) at the entrance of former Nazi concentration camp of Sachsenhausen in Oranienburg near Berlin
This weekend, about 1,000 survivors will come to the former Berlin concentration camp to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the camp's liberation in April 1945. Interesting that the Nazis slogan, "working liberates", was anything but the truth as they imprisoned, tortured and killed millions. When the allies liberated those who were still alive, the world was shocked by the horrors of the holocaust. Even so, true liberty only comes when we turn our life over to Jesus. He said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed, to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the d…
Yesterday, we spoke on how the Lord gives us rest when we come to Him. Today, He reminds me in Psalm 23 that as my Shepherd, He lets me rest in green pastures... ahhhhh yes! Psalm 46 says "Be still (or be silent) and know that I am God" and Isaiah 30:15 says "in quiteness and confidence is our strength". We each need to make it a priority to find that place of peace in the presence of the Lord. This may be a difficult challenge if we are doing too much. In Luke 10 when Mary was sitting at the Lord's feet listening to what he taught, her sister Martha was worrying about the big dinner. Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me." But Jesus replied, "My dear Martha, you are so upset over all these details! There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it and I won't take it awa…
Last night at the Holy Place, the Lord reminded me of this wonderful passage in Matthew 11: "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light." As His disciples, we have chosen to be yoked/connected to Jesus. This is a total blessing when we obey Him. However, when we try to go a different way, the yoke becomes a burden. Today Oswald Chambers in "My Utmost for His Highest" speaks on "What To Do When Your Burden Is Overwhelming". Ozzy says we need to cast our burden on the Lord (Psalm 55:22) and recognize the difference between burdens that are right for us to bear and burdens that are wrong. We should never bear the burdens of sin or doubt, for example. However, there are some burdens placed on us by G…
Today while praying for missionary friends in Thailand, the words of an old praise song were going through my head:
Be bold! Be strong! For the Lord your God is with you!
Be bold! Be strong! For the Lord your God is with you!
I am not afraid! I am not dismayed!
'Cause I'm walking in faith and victory!
Come on and walk in faith and victory!
For the Lord, your God is with you!
(by Morris Chapman)
Yes, we are in a battle, but JESUS is BIGGER than the battle! PRAISE GOD because we are exactly where we are supposed to be and the LORD OUR GOD IS WITH US! Hallelujah and thank You, Father, that Your grace is sufficient because just like Paul when he begged You 3 times to remove the thorn in his flesh (2 Cor 12), Jesus said each time: "My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness." Then Paul said, "So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me. Since …
German Joanna speaking English to Polish youth with Asia translating
We just returned from a short but wonderful trip, visiting an American FIRE missionary family (Andy & Sheryl Boone and their 5 children) who live in Poland. Our Berlin team consisted of 4 Germans, 1 Polish and 2 Americans! Friday night we went to a worship meeting at a church in Zielona Gora, and after some of us shared a bit, our team made a prayer tunnel. The following afternoon we, along with some Polish believers, filled 3 vehicles, drove south a couple of hours and ministered at a youth meeting. Here we again ended with a prayer tunnel which was a great blessing for all of us! During this time, some thieves attempted to steal one of our cars but broke their tool in the process before escaping. The car lock is also broken but we are thankful the car was not stolen! In spite of this, it was a wonderful trip. THANK YOU JESUS!

Jesus loves Poland!
Our ministry is based on relationship - knowing Jesus and knowing people. As we receive from the Lord His love, we can in turn then love others. I personally want more of Jesus and I want to see others free from whatever is hindering the love of the Father in their lives. It is good to remember that we have the VICTORY through the finished work of the Cross where God and sinful man collided. Oswald Chambers says now, "... the way to life is open. But all the cost and pain of the collision is absorbed by the heart of God." Thank You, Lord, that You love me so much! The delightful journey with Jesus continues as tomorrow seven of us are driving to Poland for a few days to visit with another missionary family from FIRE, the Boones. Poland is only a couple of hours away, but it is interesting because we planned this trip before the pope died and as you may know, the pope was Polish. And most of Poland is Roman Catholic - they believe any other rel…
Book 1: Fifty years in the Church of Rome: The Conversion of a Priest by Charles Chiniquy
Book 2: The Secret History of the Jesuits by Edmund Paris
Book 3: Smokescreens by Jack Chick
I just finished listening to the shocking story of Charlotte Keckler, an ex-Catholic, who tells of the horrors she experienced for 22 years as a Carmelite cloistered nun (click here) before escaping and then becoming born-again. With the recent death of the pope of Rome whom Catholics believe was sinless, I sadly doubt if he is in heaven. Many people are deceived by this false religion which claims to be Christian!

Watch Sparky drink here!
I hope your day is SPARKY and JOY-FILLED as you drink deep of HIS LIVING WATER! John the disciple wrote in chapter 7:
On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, "If you are thirsty, come to me! If you believe in me, come and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within." (When he said "living water," he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) YES, LORD, FILL US OVER FLOWING WITH YOUR LIVING WATER!

In his second letter to the believers in Corinth, Paul wrote:
Remember this - a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves the person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, "Godly people give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will never be forgotten." For God is the one who gives seed to the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will give you many opportunities to do good, and he will produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. (2 Cor 9:6-11a) AND THANK YOU FATHER, FOR GENEROU…
"DON'T BE AFRAID. JUST TRUST ME." - Jesus in Mark 5:36
By simply reading the daily news, we can become fearful in our hearts as we ponder the problems in our world. However, the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind or self-control - yes, perfect love casts out all fear! One day we each will die, however, as a disciple of Christ, I do not fear this at all because I know where I am going. So until then, I stay focused on Jesus, knowing that there is freedom and peace in His presence - my heavenly Papa delights in me! So each day I choose to trust in Him more and more with all my heart and not depend on my own understanding. As I seek the Lord in all I do, He directs me (Proverbs 3:5,6) My question to you is this: Are you walking in fear or are you walking in faith?
