"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 ____ "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." REPENTANCE DAY (BUSS UND BETTAG)
Even though today is Repentance Day in Germany, it is only observed in the Saxony area of the nation which was part of the former communist East Germany. Saxony is considered the motherland of the Reformation and the most successful Protestant missionaries also come this area. Interestingly, this is the location of many significant events, like the 100 year prayer meeting with Count Zinzendorf and the Moravians which happened in Herrnhut. And the fall of the Berlin Wall was due in large part to a growing prayer meeting in Leipzig in 1989. In Luke 13 it says, "About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were sacrificing at the Temple in Jerusalem. 'Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than other people from Galilee?' he asked. "Is that why they suffered? Not at all! And you will also perish unless you turn from your evil ways and turn to God. And what about the eighteen men who died when the Tower of Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem? No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will also perish." May the spirit of Repentance again flood all of Germany and spread across the globe we pray in Jesus name!
Over the years my opinions have changed but this will never change: Jesus Christ, Lord, God and Savior, died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay for my sin.
