Today our friend, Manfred Glimm, gave us a wonderful tour of many significant Berlin sights before Sharolyn leaves on Sunday. And for me, the most intense & gut-wrenching was our visit to the Wannsee Conference House. Here in the formal dining room of this beautiful villa (once owned by a Jewish businessman) on January 20, 1942, fifteen high-ranking Nazis met to discuss the "final solution" to the "Jewish problem". The extensive exhibition gives full documentation with many photos of the horrific history of the holocaust as it describes the social exclusion, persectution, expulsion, confinement, deportation, and finally murder of the European Jews before and during WW2.
