Living Sacrifice Lakeland Style

Received this email today and this is disgusting (video clip below). Did anyone else see Todd wear this t-shirt? I found one website where it can be purchased: www.zambooie.com

Subject: The Apostasy in Lakeland Continues .....

Dear Cathy,

The other night, I couldn't help but notice Todd's T-shirt of choice for the nightly dose of apostasy at Lakeland. Here is the picture on the t-shirt he wore ....... You'd think someone might get a clue. How blatant does it need to be?

Just a thought .......

Marcia

--- end ---

And here is a video clip I just did:

PS
In my internet search, I turned on god-tv and there was a guy name Jeff wearing another bizarre t-shirt - a mockery.

All this grieves the Holy Spirit and it is nauseating to watch for any length of time.

7/6/08 UPDATE
Apparently 'Living Sacrifice' is a heavy metal 'Christian' band which one poster says has solid lyrics.

Sorry but where do we draw the line?

The snake or serpent is a symbol for Satan and this design is evil.

Bruce Fitzhugh, one of the band members, says, "The whole point of being metal is being evil... but there are a lot of cool things that are dark but not necessarily evil."

Really? Like WHAT??

2 Corinthians 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Listen to Bruce and the 'Living Sacrifice' and tell me how blessed you were that the Lord Jesus Christ was edified.

source

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Luke 10:19
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Revelation 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

When well known pastors, so called prophets and leaders endorse Todd Bentley, we now know who the enemies of the church are. This shirt of the twisted rattlesnakes is not the only time he has worn demonic shirts. I will post some other occult doing in the near future.

Good point! And where are the pastors/shepherds who should be warning and protecting the sheep??

The Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Good Shepherd that gave His life for the sheep says in John 10, "But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep."

Very tragic.

Hey Cathy, have you been to Lakeland? I hve and the Lord Jesus Christ has been lifted high! Religion has died and Christianty is being raised up...

Cathy Palmer said...

what do you mean "religion has died"?

James 1:27 "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

metal music is not my cup of tea by any means, but what he's saying is that they aren't accepted by other metal bands because they declare jesus as their savior... they are trying to be a light in the darkness.. we all have our own callings in life...

as for the "religion has died" statement... i don't practice "religion" with all of it's man made traditions and beliefs... i have a living relationship with the living God who moves and speaks to His people by His word and by His spirit...

Here are the lyrics for the song played in the second youtube video during the interview:

Reborn empowered
All strongholds broken
Old ways have died,
Given new life
Boldness engulfs my every word,
Strength empowered by God
Jesus
The strength in Christ's name
Power, all knees must bow
Same spirit that dwells in us,
Raised Him from the dead
This gift freely given,
You will believe
Evil, its plan to deceive,
Manipulation, deception we bind
Rebirth, confession,
That He is God, almighty
Reborn empowered
All strong holds
Broken old ways have died,
Given new life
Rebirth, confess, our Lord

What is wrong with these words over here. You rather leave the metal world the way it is worshipping Satan than changing. Just like Bruce said "The whole point of being metal is being evil... but there are a lot of cool things that are dark but not necessarily evil." First of all any type of music can be evil depending on the words used in the song. Second of all, Christian Metal is not evil to begin with. The snake shirt and a bunch of other Christian Metal Shirts are meant to attract attention to nonbelievers, so that people who are into metal will notice them and eventually become saved. Don't we need to do some ministry in Metal Music? Just like there's Christian rap, rock, and contemporay music out there, we also need to spread the Gospel to the metal world through Christian Metal. Please google all the lyrics for the songs that Living Sacrifce plays. I guarantee you there is nothing wrong with them at all. They have no bad words what so ever, and they all share the Gospel, which is what ministry is all about. If you have a problem with that, than why are you calling yourself a Christian if you're denying the Gospel to be spread to people. You need to be more open minded. I listen to a lot of Christian Metal. They have nothing against God, there just spreading the Gospel to the Metal world, and they involve nothing evil.

Cathy Palmer said...

So those are the lyrics? Did you figure them out by listening to them or by reading them? I understood nothing they 'sang'.

So what's the point if a person can't understand the words?

Same goes for any music - rock, rap, Christian, whatever - if you can't understand what they are saying, how is that glorifying to the Lord Jesus Christ?

How many, if any, people are getting saved at these shows/concerts anyway?

The drums and lights are very hypnotic and appealing BIG TIME to the flesh.

Bruce Fitzhugh, the guy from LS said in the above clip, "It's not supposed to be super deep because when they come to a show, they just want to see a show and that's what we want to give them. But we want to give something that's just as good as anything out there because there are a hundred other bands, metal bands or whatever that are great. They're awesome. And if we're not as good or whatever, notbody's really going to care what we think about anything. Our whole thing has been to put out great music."

Oh brother.

Bruce was also a guest vocalist on Demon Hunter's album Storm the Gates of Hell on the song "Sixteen". Here are the lyrics:

Sixteen, Oh holy day
Your time has come and passed
The rapture we’ve been waiting for
Has come to us at last
Sixteen for every fake
Sixteen to every whore
Wipe that dirt from off your face
Sixteen is at your door

Oh, voiceless, wasted
You soaked your heart in gasoline
Now light it up and burn

The same cycle ever-turning you is calling
It’s calling
The scene is begging for a grave tonight
It always, it always will

You take the name of love divine
And drag it through your blood
Now turn to face what you have made
And mourn what you have done

Oh, voiceless, wasted
You soaked your heart in gasoline
Now light it up and burn
Voiceless, wasted
I came this far to drag you down
And watch you take your turn

The same cycle ever-turning you is calling
It’s calling
The scene is begging for a grave tonight
It always, it always will

Farewell to false pretension
Farewell to hollow words
Farewell to fake affection
Farewell, tomorrow burns

Farewell to false pretension
Farewell to hollow words
Farewell to fake affection
Farewell, tomorrow burns

The same cycle ever-turning you is calling
It’s calling
The scene is begging for a grave tonight
It always, it always will

The same cycle ever-turning you is calling
It’s calling
The scene is begging for a grave tonight
It always, it always will
--- end ---

And Bruce was a guest vocalist on Embodyment's debut album Embrace The Eternal on the song "Religious Infamy". Here are those lyrics:

your individual erodes doing saying what you're told / perception of reality is destroyed / blinded submission, consumption with reason, brainwashed, corrupted and controlled / oppressed slaves to your aggression, driven / absolute control is a must / the life you once new imagination victims of one enemy / new is all you know old is forgotten / religious infamy turn away it will set you free / bonded by hate break the chains of your spiritual state / what you seek is the truth in the darkness nothing is pure / once you see what they hide you are the one they truly despise / born again into a life without conformity / innocent lives brought into strife imbed impurity / the planted seeds it's roots will grow in which by means to feed / uplift the roots regain your soul declare your right to live / to fit scripture in the end will be their own demise / false religion i despise new age never fastens it's grip on me / predictions of falsehood wallow in the flames / as you watch your false prophets die / i will never leave my doctrine / the truth shall set you free / fallow unto me there is truth in my deception / false reality truth surfaced need for correction / religious infamy turn away it will set you free / bonded by hate break the chains of your spiritual state / what you seek is the truth in the darkness nothing is pure / once you see what they hide you are the one they truly despise
--- end ---

Friend, you are deluded and deceived if you think any of this is Christian.

Um, Cathy, it is dangerous territory when you start to jump to conclusions about bands, images, and now people's auditory senses when it concerns God's spirit and how it moves.

1. Would you find the snakes offensive if they were on a t-shirt promoting a zoo, a state, or a restaurant?

2. You're picking on the wrong band. I only listen to Christian music that edifies me, uplifts me and motivates me. There are COUNTLESS metal bands out there with the Christian label that play extremely sad and depressing music with no direct reference to Christ. Living Sacrifice is much more like No Innocent Victim, Petra and Third Day in the sense that there music is fun and energetic with a blatant Christian message, often worshipful.

3. Perhaps you couldn't understand the words because of the quality of the video. You should apologize for assuming the fans of this band can't understand the lyrics of the songs when we hear them. That's blatant false testimony. Trust me, we play it loud enough and if there is something me or another fan don't understand, we can turn to the lyrics. Here are the lyrics to "Symbiotic":

Symbiotic
Conceived in fire
Panic strike
I cannot breathe
Piercing me
Conscience Deep
Consuming Like
Embrace this heat
Like love
Complete in me to see what I could not see
This life inside
Symbiotic
Conceived in fire
Amniotic suspension
Heart rate rhythmic
Surround by sound blood
Nourished, blood nourished
This union by love destroys the pain and changes everything
This life inside
Symbiotic
Conceived in fire
Waves of emotion
Lifted
Defeat
Consuming fire
Burning sin like wheat
This union by love destroys the pain
This union by love changes everything
This life inside
Symbiotic
Conceived in fire
Symbiotic

Is this "very tragic"?

I listen to only Christian music also. My opinion is they are an example of Jesus Christ He came to this earth and eat and drank with the sinners. I have to say I went to a lot of concerts. 1 out of 4 bands were Christian at this particular one. The Christian band was playing and a Evil man said F Jesus several time out loud. I was so shocked! That my friend is going into the pit and reaching the lost. I had the oprotunity to witness to another man going to Iraq at that concert. Jesus didn't come down from Heaven to sit on a thrown. Good work faithful servants,Living Sacrifice. Woe To You Pharasees.

First of all, I figured them out by listening to them and checked the lyrics online to make sure they were right and they were.

Second of all, if you're saying that all of the Christian Genres aren't good because people aren't understanding what they are saying, than why are you listening to Christian music? Go listen to the non-Christian music and follow the ways of sin if you can support them and not Christianity.

Third, for the music skills, they are tryna play as good as the other bands to attract non-Christians to the concerts to be saved. And if they don't sound good enough, no one will come. It's just like any band that they are determining as good or bad. By the way, a good number of people do get saved at these concerts in case you're wondering.

Fourth, I do have the Demon Hunter song Sixteen as my ringtone, and there is a message behind the song from Demon Hunter them selves, which is:

"Having played in bands for well over a decade, I’ve learned a lot of things about many of the people involved in “Christian” music. I put the word Christian in quotes, because unfortunately, many of the things that I have witnessed lead me to believe that there are a lot of people involved in Christian music that should not be adopting the term “Christian” at all.

For many of us in bands, this is a common tale. For others, it may be news. And don’t get me wrong here- I’m not saying that since these people are Christians, they cannot fail. They can and will fail, and that is to be expected. However, there is a level of failure, as a Christian, as a human, without remorse or repentance that begs to be questioned.

“Sixteen” is in regard to the minute. Some people are fortunate enough to have fifteen minutes of fame. For these “Christians” that I speak of, living Godless, perverse lives, I beg for minute sixteen. I beg for the end of their undeserved fame, for the end of spiritual fraudulence, and the end of their time in this scene.

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in [his] wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [from his right], and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.
-Malachi 3:5"

Fifthly, I also have the whole Embodyment Embrace the Eternal Album. That album is very phenomenal and all there songs including this song have an amazing message. The message behind religious infamy is that there are people that who go to Church are focused on religion and instead of God. They try to do everything their Church tells them to do, even if it's false, and they become so focused on doing things for their Church only instead of focusing their life on God. This songs teaches us to focus on God, and not to worship the Church and the pastor. Some Churches teach false things to people and say false things about how to get in Heaven or how to have a good relationship with God, and to only figure out that they're being taught falsely to worship the Church instead of God. Have you never heard a message about focusing in God instead of being religious? You can be very religious and not have a good relationship with God. And Religious Infamy teaches us to avoid that.

This is way more than Christian. The message of all these songs are about Jesus, and you're not smart enough to recognize what the message behind them are. You are not God to be able to judge anything. Matthews 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

From this and you're other blog posts, you're gonna have a lot of judgment to be done to you from God. By the way I posted the comment on 2/3/09 12:01 PM, the one that showed the word to the Living Sacrifice song "Reborn Empowered" I'm not afraid to challenge you to prove that Living Sacrifice is a Christian Metal Band who is serving the Lord and spreading out the Gospel to the Metal world. I have two blogs, and some posts, I have taught things from songs based on Living Sacrifice's songs and other songs. I have God on my side and I will not fail through God. I dare you to comment something back and by the grace of God, I will teach you what Christian Metal is and how there's nothing against God about it and how Living Sacrifice shares very powerful messages in their songs that you are unaware of and they definitely save lives.

Does the band 'Living Sacrifice' have something on youtube that I can view?

We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:21,22, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil."

I had never heard of the band 'Living Sacrifice' until I did a bit of research into the shirt Todd Bentley was wearing which showed 2 rattlesnakes.

Btw, Todd recently divorced his wife after having an affair with his intern during his 'revival' and has now married his intern, leaving a disabled wife and 3 children. Rich Joyner, another wolf in sheep's clothing, is restoring him... to what, I cringe to think.

Todd's life is an example of bad fruit for anyone much less a so called minister of the Christian faith!

In any case, his shirt was brought to my attention, thus my video.

If what you say about Living Sacrifice is true, I would like to hear for myself a complete song by 'Living Sacrifice' as I only head bits which I could not understand. Also, I would like to read the testimony of someone who was saved at their concert. Please direct me to both. Thank you.

These days, I question many things that I formerly embraced because I had been deceived and I can blame no one but myself. The Lord Jesus Christ and the disciples warn us to 'Let no man deceive you', so I am extra cautious these days.

Let God be true, but every man a liar.

May we each come to know the Truth of God and obey His Word in all things, at all times I pray.

I think we should leave bands like Living Sacrifice alone, nobody's perfect. I may not know alot about amything, but I know Living Sacrifice won't sing songs with such lyrics if they were't christians. So what if they don't save as many lifes as what you think they should. What have you guys done in your lives to make a difference? TobyMac is another example, if his intentions are bad, then he isn't doing the right thing. (View the site 'Repent America' Wrote about him.) We all sin, if we don't repent for those sins, its our problem. I think you guys should use your time with something else, instead of wasting it on disagreements. If people don't listen, we can't make them. I'm south african, and I've been to America. I saw shows with guys breakings objects(Paid by their money) to attract people's attention, and at the end of the show they help those that want to become christians. Im thinking some people want to play music with good lyrics(christian biased lyrics), but may not have the time, money, or motivation to spoon feed non-believers into converting to Christianity. I am 18 yrs old, and urge that you do not judge people. Regards, and may God be with you all.

Im sorry to bring up such an old topic but I just got home from a Living Sacrifice concert here in Houston. Being a Christian and also a fan of metal music it is safe to say that most of the bands out there today go against everything Christians stand for. It is rejuvinating to see bands like Living Sacrifice, August Burns Red, Impending Doom, War of Ages and others preach words of truth and hope in a scene dominated by such negativity. In regards to the comment about them having to be as good as the other bands: In the metal world, bands are judged harshly on their raw talent and brutalness(in terms of the sound of the music they play). If they arent on the cutting edge with other bands, noone will give them a second look. If noone does this, they wont be able to reach to anybody with their message. I understand where you are coming from on this topic but let me say from personal experience that these guys are legit, and having met them tonight are for real about their beliefs and trying to spread them to the metal world, which is so deeply locked in sin.

On a side note, check out the band Sleeping Giant if you want to see some true metal worship! Here are a couple of videos for you to listen to... Even if you cant always understand it doesnt mean there is not passion and truth radiating from the music! So us metal heads have to look up the lyrics sometimes... so what?

In regards to your wish to see a video of Living Sacrifice with lyrics your wish has been granted. This is the most profound song and if you find something wrong with it i shall be amazed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3jvfxtC5I8&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=4DAC19F47ABF3EE4

In regards to Todd Bently. All I have to say is "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone." Seems to me theres been a lot of stones being thrown.

Here is a METAL WORSHIP SONG by the band For Today. ALL they are about is reaching the lost. At the end even my grandma could understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78wbC8wVM6w&feature=PlayList&p=968B416318EC73A7&index=3

In regards to labeling things as not of God. ESPECIALLY moves of the Holy Spirit. I believe that the one sin God WILL NOT forgive is blaspheming the holy spirit. And even if you aren't its pretty darn close! lol

I believe that CHRISTIAN METAL honestly is a MOVE OF GOD! There are countless kids being saved in these 'underground' shows. Power of God moving immensly. I have been to a show where the first band dropped the F-bomb a million times, but the headlining band proclaimed christ and laid hands on a kid whose stomach was hurting. Thus kids saw the power of God and in turn gave God a shot. The church as a whole wont accept this because its not religious. Jesus wasnt religious so why should I be? and the reason i think CHRISTIAN METAL IS A MOVE OF GOD is because it upsets the church. I think its a modern day rendition of Jesus' righteous indignation (in lamens terms he was fed up) with the crap that was going on inside HIS temple! Frankly I think he's upset that the church as a whole is too steeped in its own rules and regulations and religion to actually BE THE CHURCH and MINISTER to the lost. Go out in the highways and byways and COMPEL them to come in. Be Jesus to them. In every way. Amen? Amen.

All I want to know is if Living Sacrifice supports Todd Bentley and if they even know he was wearing their shirt. Have they made any comments about it? Any links please!
And Cathy stop being so judgmental about the wrong issues and you really are dense if you think those lyrics are not Christian. READ THE BIBLE!
PS: I cannot stand Todd Bentley or the charismatic movement!

Remember try the spirits to see if they are of Christ remember no spirit will admit that Jesus came in the flesh, 1st John 4:1-6, if you are not of the Kingdom of God you surley cannot sing of the Name that is above all Names, and besides most of these Christian metal bands their lyrics mainly speak of the warfare that most people go through, if you dont experience this and there is no resistance, then you are in a dangerous place like believing in Christ but denying the power thereof, most people who listen to this music is coming out of a very dark place and need to understand that this warfare is real, and that they are not the only ones who are experiencing these troubles as satan and his fallen angles would make them believe that they are all alone, i humbly speak because i was one of these people who climbed out of hell by Christ alone who took me by the hand, and this music has replaced the death and destruction in my life, i am asking you to really pray and ask the Holy Ghost for real illumination and revelation before you bash these people, be sure you have a little more of an understanding, and have a lot of compassion for the lost and hurting, who are oppressed, possibly possessed, because not everyone can say that they were raised in Christian homes whos parents were filled with the Holy Ghost and lived under the hand of God, there are those people whos mess became a message, and God will use what ever means necessary to save those people from a real hell and from a real devil, because i was one and i thank God for this music, so with all humility and brokenness, if this music bothers you, just remember its saving someone else,
