Todd Bentley - Possesed by a demon?

I keep watching Todd Bentley and the question that continually comes to my mind is he possesed by a demon? Why would I even say such a thing? Because we have been studying through the book of Acts on Sunday’s and the account of the young girl who was demon possesed had the ability of divination (the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means).

She also was bringing a lot of money to her owners. Again, Todd Bentley is bringing "lots" of money too! Here is the account of the slave girl.

Acts 16:16-18
16 As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Paul and us, crying out, "These men are servants [5] of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation." 18 And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And it came out that very hour.

Did she deny who Christ was or did she also declare the Most High God? Did she affirm the way of salvation? I have heard people make the claim that how could Todd be against God when he declares "some" truth? Well here we see a demon possesed girl saying truth as well. Interesting stuff.

Anyways, today I recieved a very good email from Mark Cahil and I would like to share it here with you.

You can find the original article HERE. But for convienence sake I will post it below. I especially think the very last video is the most disturbing of all. I have seen many but this one is so rediculous it makes me want to vomit.

Guards Up

When I was speaking at a church in Mississippi last year, the pastor said a very interesting thing to me. I had spoken about not being deceived in the last days. Deception will be everywhere, and if you are not very careful, Satan will deceive you and pull you away from the truth. Afterwards, he made a very simple statement to me. He said one of our main problems as Christians is that when we get around religious folks, we put our guards down instead of up. We naturally trust religious people, because we don’t think they will steer us in the wrong direction. But when the Bible tells us about false christs and false prophets, those are religious folks that we need to careful of.

So let’s put our guards up and take a look at something that is happening right now that seems to be turning into a phenomenon. Remember your guard is your Bible, and we must filter things through that prism to see if something is true or not.

1 John 4:1 says, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

The word "try" here means to test or to examine something. There is nothing wrong with questioning things and examining things to see if they are really of God. As a matter of fact, that is what we are supposed to be doing! We can’t contend for the faith unless we test and try things. That is how we can then tell if false teachings are making there way into our Christian circles.

There is something happening right now called the Florida Outpouring. It is a supposed move of God where a lot of people are being saved and a lot of people are being healed. People are driving in from everywhere to be there, and people have flown as far away as Australia to be at these meetings. The services are led by Todd Bentley. I have been getting a lot of emails about this and some phone calls. So I decided to take a look at what was happening and test the spirits to see if they were from God.

This newsletter is going to take you a little bit longer to get through than most of them that I write. I am going to provide you with some video links so you can see for your self what is going on.

Click on the link below and watch Todd for a few minutes as he walks down a healing line:

http://www.alittleleaven.com/2008/05/todd-bentley-th.html

One of the first things that you notice is that he is completely wrong on what he is telling these ladies. He even says thank you Lord Jesus and then says something completely inaccurate about the woman! So who was really speaking to him? Just because people use the right religious words does not, and I repeat, does not mean they are from Jehovah God. As a matter of fact, those are the people that you have to be most careful about.

Deuteronomy 18 is a great chapter to read. The last verse of it says, "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

When prophets speak for God, they need to be 100% accurate. Why? It is God speaking through them. He will not and has not ever been wrong. If someone is speaking for God prophetically and they get one thing wrong, they are someone we do not need to fear because it is not the God of the Bible speaking through them.

Also do you see him slaying people in the spirit where he puts his hand on people’s heads and they fall under the "power of the spirit?" Now, do you find that anywhere in the Bible? The answer is no. You do find it in some charismatic circles but never in the Bible.

Click on the below link. You can read what was written by the person who put this link on his site:

http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/05/12/watch-todd-bentley-laughing-at-the-lakeland-healing-revival-2/

Is that uncontrollable, wild laughter of God? Where do you see that in the New Testament? Is that part of Paul’s and Peter’s ministries? The supposed holy laughter movement has one big leader here in America. His name is Rodney Howard Brown. The only problem is that it isn’t biblical. What about that uncontrollable shaking? You find it in occultic circles, but you do not see it in the Holy Word of God.

Click on the link below and see what you can find that glorifies the Lord and shows up in the New Testament. This clip is absolutely amazing. How can people watch this and think it is from God? It is called deception.

In the link below, Todd talks about an angel Emma that brings financial breakthroughs for people. The angel also has gold dust. A friend told me that one of his friends went to this revival in Florida and people had gold dust show up on their shoulders and their fillings in their teeth became gold. Do you see this anywhere in the Bible? In the same post, Todd talks about the pastor’s wife running around the church barking like a dog! But because we live in a touchy feely world and we want to experience things and want our flesh titillated, we fall for unbiblical stuff like this. It is a manifestation of a spirit, but it is not the Holy Spirit.

http://www.qaya.org/blog/?p=527

In the following blog post, Todd talks about a trip he took to the third heaven. During his time there he got to spend some time in a small cabin with the apostle Paul. What is the first big giveaway when someone mentions something like that? Deuteronomy 18:10,11 says,

"There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer."

Necromancy is contacting the dead. We are NEVER supposed to contact the dead. We have the living Word of God that we consult.

And the link below is one of the ones that really, really blew me away.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zMRChoojZo&feature=related

If you have ever studied alien abductions, what he is describing is exactly what others have described during those encounters. These are not angels of God folks. These belong to an angel of light, Satan himself. Portals are of the occult world and you do not find them in the Bible. Many people who have had alien abductions have talked about being on an operating table and being operated on.

One of the bigger problems that I see from people today is that they are looking for a sign or something to confirm their faith. Again what does the Scriptures say? Matthew 16:4 states,

"A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed."

The thing to always remember is that we don’t need signs and wonders to confirm our faith! Once you have the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that is all the confirmation you need to know this is true!

One night, I decided to watch this Florida Outpouring. It was a four hour service that evening. Todd used six scripture verses where he had people go to their Bibles. It took about ten minutes. How does a four hour service have only ten minutes of Scripture in it? He even mentioned that he has been getting critiqued by people because he hasn’t been using the word of God in his services. We must challenge our audiences to know the word of God above all else, so that they will not be deceived in the coming days.

During this service, Todd had children come up. Of course kids haven’t been conditioned like adults. When he laid hands on the kids to slay them in the spirit, which again is not in the Bible, many of the kids didn’t fall over. He would even push on their head some. They wouldn’t fall over. If this was all true, I would think the Holy Spirit would have enough power to knock a kid over! So again very clearly it is not the Holy Spirit, but some another kind of spirit.

One good thing to do when another big name pops up on the scene is to take their name plus the words ‘false prophet’ and put them into a search engine and hit enter. See what pops up. Now don’t believe everything you read, but filter it back through the word of God. If a bunch of red flags pop up, be careful. I did that for Todd and many, many red flags began to pop up. I did that for myself when I was writing this newsletter to see what came up. Why would I do that? I often pray, ‘Father do not let me be deceived so that I will not deceive other people.’ You need to have your guard up around me as well. More and more ministers and ministries should be saying just that to the people that they influence.

2 Thessalonians 2:9 says, "Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders."

Remember that all signs and wonders are not of God. Be very careful in the coming days.

2 Thessalonians 2:11 says, "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."

Delusion is coming folks. Would you know the difference if something was from God or from Satan?

Jesus says in Matthew 24:24, "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

Wow. That must be pretty strong delusion if it could possibly deceive the elect.

And Deuteronomy 13 also tells us, even if the signs and wonders come true you still check that person’s doctrine and teachings to see if it is of the God of the Bible. We must test everything that happens today and in all days to come back through the Holy Bible.

In just a very short time of researching this, it is very easy to spot Todd Bentley as a false prophet. So many of these false moves of God keep coming out of the charismatic circles. Todd is either doing this on purpose to deceive people, or he is doing all of this unknowingly. Either way, it is false. He is a charlatan. These are not easy words to write. I don’t like it that there is another false representative of the Lord Jesus Christ out there. But I am much more concerned of the fact of warning the readers of these newsletters to be very careful of the current and coming deceptions. Be careful.

Is your guard up or is your guard down? It will really determine how the Lord can use you for His glory in the coming days.

RE: "I keep watching Todd Bentley and the question that continually comes to my mind is he possesed by a demon?"

I say: Tell that devil to get behind you - the devil loves to whisper in the ears of God's children so that he can bring division in the body of Christ. A kingdom/church divided against itself cannot stand. The adversary is "The Accuser of the Brethen". Anytime there are accusations/criticisms against another child of God, against a servant of the Lord or against a new move of God (that doesn't look like the norm) and this criticism continues for days and months on end and it becomes a ministry (blog spot) of division and criticism - this is not of God. It is the accuser of the brethren (a spirit of division). Our God is a God of Love. (What's God's No. 1 commandment?) The devil seeks to kill, steal and destroy - and he is doing this in the church by destroying ministries, reputations - and he’s using Christians. Why? Because a kingdom/church divided against itself cannot stand. He's not stupid. He whispers in Christians ears saying, "did you see that - that's not God!" or "why would God use an overweight ex-convict with tattoos?" Because God chose David - and He's the same yesterday, today and forever - and He chooses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise and the weak things of the world to confound the mighty - that's why! Men’s wisdom is God’s foolishness. The natural mind cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, neither can they know it for they are spiritually discerned.

Todd’s ministry is to the poor, the broken, the hurting, the abandoned. People are being healed (thousands documented), saved, set free and set afire for the love and ministry of Jesus. All to the Glory of God!

It is a very serious and dangerous thing to come against a true move of God and/or against a servant of God. I, myself would never want to be in the lime light like Todd and many other evangelists are today because people will dig and dig and dig for dirt against those God is raising up. They won’t be happy until they see to their demise. God has buried their sins and covered them in His blood and He remembers them no more. But the accuser of the brethren wants to resurrect their sins and reveal (blog post) them to the world. (Hmm like a demonic resurrection). That is the spirit of death - because sin brings spiritual death and those that want to resurrect a person’s sins are attempting a sin resurrection. God has resurrected the person from spiritual death to spiritual life in Him (in Christ) but the accusers want to sentence him to death row - just like the devil. (Wow - the Lord just now gave me that!)

My pastor has called for intercessors in our church to pray for the revival (it has broken out in our church) and to pray for Todd’s ministry and to pray against the spirit of division and poisonous words being spoken against a man after God’s own heart (li

The rest of my comment was cut off (above) so I continue herewith:

My pastor has called for intercessors in our church to pray for the revival (it has broken out in our church) and to pray for Todd’s ministry and to pray against the spirit of division and poisonous words being spoken against a man after God’s own heart (like David). David had his Jezebel he had to contend with. Now Todd has his. As one of the intercessors in my church, I pray God will totally vindicate Todd, that the Revival will continue to spread like wildfire - that the false accusers would repent - get out of their mindset - ask the Holy Spirit to open their blind eyes so they could see (recognize) what God is doing in this hour. I pray that those that do not repent will receive the same reward as Jezebel did. God is not mocked and His spirit shall not always contend with man.

The number one commandment is to love God with all your heart, mind and soul. The second commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself.

When Todd Bentley claims to speak from the Lord and to heal a dyeing man of cancer and makes the declaration that he has been healed and he dies 2-3 weeks later there is a serious problem. He is breaking both of those commandments.

If Todd Bentley really wants to do some miracles I know of some children's hospitals that he could visit and clear it out.

I am still waiting for all the medical reports to come in so we can verify these things. He is a liar. He is damaging the body of Christ. He will stand in judgement before God. I pray he repents and turns from his sins.

In your above post you don't address any of the biblical concerns that were brought up. Can you explain to me this:

Deuteronomy 18 is a great chapter to read. The last verse of it says, "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

To Lovecoversitall:

"an overweight ex convict with tattoos":
1. Tattoos, of which the visible ones were put on in the last 2-3 years - see photo of Todd on his site in 2006, with no visible tattoos, with curly hair, and normal dress. Why the makeover after years of profession of faith and ministry? Tattoos which also look more occultic and appropriate to Hells Angels - yes, with biblical themes, but...

2. Overweight - again apparent big weight increase over the last several years - self control?

3. Overweight - he is preaching a "losing weight" anointing - why is it not working on him, as he spends so much time in the presence of God? Or his wife? Or Doris Wagner in an electric scooter? Why are they not receiving their healing in such an atmosphere?

The criticism is not directed because of tattoos as such (if received before becoming a follower of the true Jesus Christ of Nazereth), nor necessarily the being overweight, though it is suggestive of lack of self control, and lack of honouring God's temple (as the tattoos since faith). It is definitely not because he is an excon. Rather it is because of his character, his teaching and his preaching, and whether it is godly etc. Why is he a keen supporter of WWE - where it is no holds barred, and participants have been killed? Gladiatorial sports? Tattoos? 3rd Heaven Visualisation at will? Talks with dead people who are known to have had suspect visions when they were alive? Female angels, dropping gold? Branhams angel - without which Branham could do no healings? - scripture for that?

I myself am still not absolutely sure, but I know enough to have my guard up now.

May the God of truth guide us into all truth ...

Another update:

Can you seriously consider this a thing of God. This is outrageous and has no biblical basis. Do we have any examples of someone being kicked in the stomach to be healed. Grotesque.

Todd Bentley and other "leaders" in this movement are leading Christian believers into the apostate church. I believe the antichrist will find support in the people who love the Lord and claim salvation through the shed blood of Jesus. They will be deceived by their own ignorance.

The Bible warns of deception. How will the elect be so foolishly tricked? By signs, wonders, miracles not of God. How are we to know the source? Check scripture. Christians are not taking time to 'test the spirit to see if it is of God'.

I believe God is in control because His Word said this time would come. However, His people can choose not to follow.

Here are some obvious signs of occult influence:

Bentley's tattoos are absolutely demonic/occult based. Check out the lion, lamb, I Peter tatoo.
I Peter 5:8 says "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Another tattoo is a Jesus death mask with an oni in the beard. (Oni is a guardian of Buddist hell; demons who torture.) There are rune symbols on his knuckles, Kanji symbols that can be intrepreted, And there are so many other highly questionable tattoos.

His head shaking and other body and vocal manifestations are found in the indian practice of Kundalini. This is a powerful healing force found in the occult. And his "nonsense words" actually can be found in a sanskrit dictionary and are used by Bentley in correct context to the moment. (Look up "bam or bam bam" in a sanskrit dictionary.)

Check out the mantra/chant of Ha Ha Ha...What is the purpose in this? Why are physical and vocal manifestations seen in the audience?

I'm not a scholar. Just someone who loves the Lord, accepted His gift of salvation, trusts the Word to guide my life, and who does not want to be part of this deception.

I'm warning anyone who will listen to use wisdom before following this new movement. Is it completely, absolutely of God? Does it pass the scripture test? What voices speak to you?

Thank you so much for your comments and warnings. May we heed the critics and search the Scriptures for answers.

Found a blog commentary which explains more the Sanskrit words used by Bentley - shocking but not really - just confirmation to what I already believed about him: Todd the fraud being used by Satan to mislead many: http://karinsangel123.multiply.com/video/item/1319/Todd_Bentley_R

May the Truth be revealed, may the lies be exposed, may the deceived wakeup, may the sinner repent, may the lost get saved and may the Lord Jesus Christ be glorified I pray - amen!
